Native Very common on slightly acidic soil on roadsides, walls, waste and arable land, sand dunes and in gardens Very variable. The bright yellow flowers are greyish below outer florets and have long, thin, narrow, colourless scales amongst the flowers. Involucre with purple-tipped bracts. Flower stems simple or once/twice branched, +/- hairless, enlarged at top, with dark, scaly bracts ('cats ears'). Similar: Lesser Hawkbit, Leontodon taraxacoides. No bracts on stem |
