Coltsfoot Tussilago farfara Flowering time: March-April. Perennial. Native Widespread throughout Britain and Ireland on cliffs, dunes, roadsides, gravel banks, arable and waste ground. Solitary yellow-rayed flowers on scaly stems. The leaves usually appear after the flowers; long-stalked, round to triangular and white-felted below. Spreads rapidly by means of scaly runners. Similar: Winter Heliotrope, Petasites fragrans has similar leaves but pinky-lilac flowers. |
