Grows on heavy soils in unimproved calcareous grasslands, mires, roadsides, grassy heaths and in rough pastures. Decreasing due to habitat loss

A small deciduous shrub with oval to linear-lanceolate leaves. The yellow flowers grow in leafy spikes and the seedpods are hairless.
