Found in damp or wet habitats in woods and marshes and by streams, ponds, lakes and canals

Can look like a very large Common Chickweed but growth is more erect and it is more/less hairy instead of hairless. The white flowers on hairy stalks have 5 deeply divided petals that are much longer than the sepals, 10 stamens and 5 styles. Seed capsules open with 5 split teeth

Similar: Greater Chickweed, Stellaria neglecta has 10 reddish stamens
