Can be locally frequent on slightly basic to acidic wet soils and peat on heaths and moors and in mires and flushes

Erect flowering spikes with star-shaped bright yellow flowers with orange anthers followed by orange-brown seed heads. The basal leaves are flat and iris-lie and the stem leaves are small and scale-like
