Nettle-leaved Bellflower Campanula trachelium Flowering time: July-September. Perennial. Native Found as a native on slightly shaded base-rich calcareous soils at the edge of woods, in hedgebanks and among scrubby grassland. Widely grown in gardens and also occurs as a naturalised garden escape Erect, branched or unbranched bristly plant with sharply angled stems and sharply toothed leaves. Basal leaves have long stalks, stem leaves short-stalked. Bell-shaped flowers are pale mauve-blue and in a leafy panicle. |
