Hybrid Campion * Silene x hampeana (S. dioica x latifolia) Flowering time: May-October. Perennial. Hybrid (native × alien) Widespread, can be found in hedgerows, woodland, grassy banks and at field edges. Usually occurs where the parent species occur together but can be present in the absence of Red Campion S. dioica A fertile hybrid between Red Campion (Silene dioica) and White Campion (Silene latifolia). Usually intermediate in appearance with pale-pink flowers but the shape of the seedpods (see lowest photograph below) needs to be checked for certain identification. |
