Flowerhead disfigured and swollen, lopsided or only partly opened, the receptacle containing one or more whitish larvae. Pupation within gall.

This is the only gall recorded on A. tripolium, but larvae of the micro moths Phalonidia affinitana and Eucosma tripoliana can also be found in the flower and seed heads
