A tight, thickened downward marginal roll containing a single white to pale-yellow larva. Galls often coalesce forming a longer roll. There are usually two generations each year, pupation in the soil.

Psyllid nymphs cause looser marginal folds or rolls but when vacated their cast skins and waxy deposits remain.
