Thin-walled galls approx 2.5mm diameter with thick or slightly collared necks. Dull reddish-yellow often becoming blackened. One generation a year, each gall containing a single yellow-orange larva

Similar: Harmandiola tremulae occurs on the same hosts but galls are 3-4mm diameter with thick walls
