Hypogymnia physodes Growth type foliose. Chemical results: Cortex K+ yellow, UV+ purplish Medulla KC+ red, P+ orange-red, UV+ ice-blue Common on acidic trees, branches and twigs, fences and rocks Can be variable. Thallus with shiny, greyish, semi-inflated lobes, powdery white soredia on margins. Underside of lobes pale brown. Rarely fertile, stalked reddish-brown discs with thin margins (photographs below).
