Ramalina siliquosa Growth type fruticose. Chemical reactions usually C- and K- but can be K+ red. Reactions vary as there are four different chemical races.Common above the high-water mark on siliceous coastal rocks. Very variable. The thallus is greyish-white, erect or hanging downwards with narrow, warted, brittle lobes. Some forms can be abundantly fertile, the discs creamy-fawn. Soredia absent. Similar: Ramalina cuspidata is usually blackened at base, lobes with numerous black pycnidia. Ramalina subfarinacea, soredia K+ yellow to red |
