Chemical results: Medulla K-, C+ red, KC+ red, P-, UV- or dull orange
Cortex K+ yellow

Occurs on nutrient-rich trees and rocks, but less frequent than H. afrorevoluta in western areas.

Whitish-grey thallus, the raised marginal lobes with concolorous fine, terminal soredia. Lower surface of lobes paler than those of H. afrorevoluta, rhizines sparse, not extending to margins. Apothecia rare, photo below.
