Growth type foliose.
Chemical results: Cortex K+ yellow
Medulla and soralia K+ yellow, KC+ yellow-orange, P+ yellow-orange

Pollution sensitive, common in South and West on trees, bushes and rocks

Light to bluish-grey thallus with +/- ascending lobes. Margins with powdery soralia and black, whiskery cilia. The undersurface is black with rhizines at the centre, the margins tan-coloured and without rhizines.

Similar: P. reticulatum. Lobes with fine white cracks, rhizines to margins. Medulla: K+ yellow going orange-red, KC+/- red
