Jamesiella anastomosans Gomphillaceae
Jamesiella anastomosans

Growth type crustose
Chemical reactions negative.
Thallus UV+ patchy dull or pinkish orange (personal observation)

Can be locally frequent on smooth shaded bark in damp, sheltered woodland. Also found on timber, rotten tree trunks, Calluna stems and over moss on boulders. Pollution tolerant.

The thin, pale greyish thallus often has a white or pale grey prothallus. Thin pale grey or green hyphores are visible with a hand lens on sterile specimens but these are few or absent when fertile. The orange-red or dark brown apothecia become pale and translucent when wet.
