Growth type fruticose
Chemical results: Medulla: K+ yellow > red, C-, KC-, P+ red

Can be locally frequent on small branches and twigs of deciduous trees and shrubs in the south and west of England and Ireland, often in well-lit exposed situations and orchards.

Small, usually erect thallus, base not blackened, medulla +/- lax. The thin, twisted, scabrid branchlets are not or only slightly constricted, tips either curled or contorted and covered with irregular, excavate soralia. Isidia absent, apothecia very rare.
