Growth type foliose
Chemistry: Medulla K+ yellow-orange, C-, KC+ orange, P+ orange, UV-

Well-lit siliceous rocks and tombstones, gravel and quartz chippings, slate and roof tiles. Most frequent in upland areas.

Yellowish-grey lobes are closely adpressed, narrow, radiating and +/- flat. Centre becomes darker grey-yellow with scattered pale grey soralia. Lower surface black with short, simple rhizines. Apothecia are rare, discs brown, margins often sorediate.

Similar: Parmeliopsis ambigua is corticolous, UV+ white
