Baeomyces rufus

Growth type crustose or squamulose
Chemical results: Thallus K+ yellow, C-, KC+ yellow, P+ orange, UV-

Common but often sterile in damp shady situations; gravel, peat or sandy soils, acidic rocks.

Granular greenish-grey thallus, becoming sorediate or squamulose. Pinkish-brown apothecia, the stalks pale, +/- translucent or furrowed and sessile. Hymenium dull-pink to reddish brown.
Sometimes host to Arthrorhaphis grisea.
