Phlyctis agelaea Growth type crustose Chemical results: Thallus K+ yellow going red, C-, KC+ red, P+ orange, UV- Rare, possibly overlooked on trunks and branches of young, smooth-barked trees in moist habitats. Rare on rocks. Powdery to rough, thin, cracked thallus, whitish to pale-grey with a white prothallus. Usually fertile, greyish, white-pruinose apothecia +/- hidden in powdery-granular warts. Asci usually 2-spored, the colourless muriform spores becoming darker with age. Soralia absent. Similar: Phlyctis argena, thallus sorediate, apothecia are rare.
