Lepraria incana s. str Growth type crustose, leprose K-, C-, P-, UV+ blue-white. When present parietin K+ purple, UV+ pale orange. Identification by Neil Sanderson Can form large colonies on sheltered surfaces on acidic rocks, soil and bark. Powdery pale grey to dull bluish-grey thallus, sometimes with pale orange patches. Hyphae absent or very short. There are several similar species in the Lepraria incana s. lat. complex requiring thin-layer chromatography for certain identification. |
