Chemical results negative

A common coastal species on sheltered siliceous rocks in the mesic-supralittoral zone, often found with L. actophila.

Grey to dark grey, rimose thallus with +/- conspicuous prothallus and small apothecia with blackish discs. Pycnidia often numerous. Spores simple but often guttulate, appearing 1-septate.

Could be confused with Halecania ralfsii. Rare. Oily, bluish-grey thallus, 1-septate spores, medulla P+ red
