Caloplaca saxicola Growth type placodioid Chemical results: K+ crimson Widespread but most frequent in eastern Britain on dry sheltered calcareous rocks, buildings and churchyard memorials. Densely pruinose yellow or orange thallus, convex lobes short, splayed and often down-turned at tips. Apothecia usually abundant, crowded in centre of thallus, discs orange to brownish, paler margins becoming excluded. Asci 8-spored, the spores polarilocular, 11-14 x 5.5-7 µm.
