Widespread but most frequent in eastern Britain on dry sheltered calcareous rocks, buildings and churchyard memorials.

The yellow or orange thallus is densely pruinose, the convex lobes short, splayed and often down-turned at tips. Apothecia usually abundant and crowded in centre of thallus, orange to brownish, the paler margins becoming excluded.
