Local in southern England, scarce in SW and north of the Cotswolds. Absent from Scotland and Ireland

Wingspan: 27mm
Flight time: May - June
Habitat: Rough grassland on chalk and limestone, woodland rides and clearings

Larval foodplants: Rosacea, usually Wild Strawberry, Creeping Cinquefoil and occasionally Tormentil, Agrimony and brambles
