Urtica dioica, urens

Two or more generations a year, the eggs laid at leaf base or along main veins. Irregular pouch-like swellings form with 1-6 whitish larvae in each.

Pink, orange or reddish gall-midge larvae in the galls are probably from the iniquiline Ametrodiplosis urticae or the predator Lestodiplosis urticae
