Very common, widespread on calcareous substrates; well-lit mortar, concrete, paving stones, memorials and limestone rocks

Very variable. Abundant crowded apothecia, the discs greenish or pink-brown, +/- pruinose with persistent margins. Thallus forms small patches of convex, white or very pale grey areoles, sometimes notched or almost placodioid at the margins.

Sometimes host to Arthonia apotheciorum #
