Chemical results: K+ crimson

On hard coastal rocks, pebbles and cement, often with C. thallincola

Variable. Thallus continuous and areolate or fragmented and granular, orange or yellow-orange, the small deeper-orange apothecia with thin, paler margins. Well-developed specimens sometimes form areoles with small lobes.

Similar: Caloplaca maritima. Yellower thallus usually with pale prothallus
