Growth type crustose
K-, C+ orange, KC+ orange, P +/- weak yellow, UV +/- dark orange

Can be frequent on rough, nutrient-rich bark, often found on Oak in old woodlands. Rare on sandstone rocks.

Ochre-yellow thallus with granular soredia, black prothallus sometimes present. Either infertile or with irregularly shaped reddish-brown apothecia, darkening with age. Spores simple, colourless, browner with age

Similar: Infertile specimens can be confused with Lecanora expallens which has finer soredia
