Cortex K-. Medulla and soredia K-, C+ red, KC+ red, P-, UV-

Usually on twigs and branches of well-lit, smooth-barked trees

Dull, non-reflective, green or brown-green adpressed lobes. Under-surface black with simple rhizines. Clumps of short, simple, globose isidia often disintegrating into soredia. Medulla white, soralia and isidia show pale yellowish marks when rubbed. Apothecia rare.

Similar: M. glabratula. Shiny green-brown lobes. Medulla K+/- red
