Lecidella elaeochroma f. elaeochroma

Growth type crustose.
Chemical results: K+ yellow, C+ orange (usually), KC+ yellow, P-, UV+ orange but reactions can be very faint.

Very common pioneer species on smooth-barked trees and fences, often forming large mosaics among other lichens. L. elaeochroma f. soralifera has greenish-yellow soralia, both forms can occur together (photo below)

Very variable smooth or slightly granular, light-grey to greenish-grey thallus with a black prothallus. Apothecia with black discs, margins excluded with age.Ascus 8-spored, spores simple, thick-walled, 10-17 x 6-9 Ám. Microscope photograph below.
