Rinodina sophodes Growth type crustose. Chemical reactions negative. Pioneer twig species often on Ash. Usually near rough leaf and girdle scars on smooth-barked twigs. Most frequent in upland and exposed areas. Sometimes host to Lichenodiplis lichenicola Small patches of pale grey to olive-brown thallus, usually with a dark prothallus. Apothecia are immersed but sometimes becoming sessile, the dark-brown to black discs with thick white margins. Spores are green becoming brown, 1-septate, 13-19 x 6-9 µm. Micrographs below.
