Stictidaceae Absconditella lignicola Growth type crustose Chemical results negative Rare, on rotting conifer stumps, wood, bark crevices, moss and dead Peltigera. Also recorded from the base of Calluna stems (photograph below). BLS conservation evaluation: LC NR Filmy grey-green thallus, tiny pale cream apothecia (0.1-0.2mm), urceolate with entire margins. Spores colourless, 3-septate, 10-15 x 4.5-6.5 µm. Microscope photographs below. Similar: Absconditella trivialis has larger apothecia and spores. Absconditella sphagnorum is found on decaying bryophytes
