Local distribution on bark (especially Ulmus trunks) and on exposed roots in sheltered woods. Rare over mosses on mortar

The very thin whitish or grey thallus is mainly immersed with half sunken perithecia, the upper part rounded or flattened. Involucrellum present. Asci are 8-spored, the spores 3-septate, 13-16(-17.5) x 4-5.5 µm, cells slightly constricted and unequal in size, second cell widest. Micrographs below.
