Graphis betulina Growth type crustose Chemical results negative One of four species recently separated from Graphis scripta s. lat. Probably widespread but less common than Graphis scripta s. str and thought to occur in older, more established woodlands Thallus white, greyish or pale brown rarely smooth and often deeply cracked, the apothecia curved, wavy or branched and with acute ends. Discs partly open, not or rarely pruinose, surrounded by conspicuous thick white thallus margin. Asci 6-8 spored, spores 5-11 septate, not constricted at septa, 15-45 x 5-9 µm, lumina mostly lentiform. Micrograph below. |
