Cladonia polydactyla Primary thallus squamulose, secondary thallus fruticose. Chemical results: Thallus K+ yellow-orange, C-, KC-, P+ orange, UV- Widespread on rotting wood and posts and on peat, stumps and soil in woodlands and heaths. Very variable. Grey podetia, squamulose below, farinose-sorediate above, more/less branched with irregular proliferating scyphi. Cups not always present but bright red apothecia and pycnidia are frequent.
