Wingspan: 50-55mm. Eyespot has one pupil.
Flight time: June-September, single brood
Habitat: Meadows, grassland, road verges, coastal dunes

Larvae feed on grasses including Rye-grass, meadow-grass, bents and fescues

Similar: Hedge Brown has two pupils in the eyespot
