Lichenicolous fungus

Widespread in the apothecia of many crustose lichen species including Lecania erysibe, Catillaria lenticularis, Lecanora albescens, Strangospora moriformis, Trapelia placodioides and Caloplaca species.

The conidia are single-celled, subglobose to ellipsoid, rounded at the ends, 3-4.5 x 2.5-4 µm. Microscope photographs below.

Similar: Intralichen christiansenii, larger conidia becoming 1-septate. Usually in apothecia of Caloplaca, Candelariella and Lecanora species
