Primary thallus squamulose, secondary thallus fruticose.
Chemical reactions: KC+ yellowish, P-, UV+ white

Common on peat bogs and open acidic heathlands

The smooth white to pale yellowish-green podetia are hollow and swollen with sparse, irregular branching and open axils. Tips are purplish-brown and usually dichotomously forked.
Sometimes host to Bachmanniomyces uncialicola
