Chemical results:

Usually occurs on younger stems of old Hazel bushes, but can also be found on other deciduous trees with smooth bark

Thallus inapparent but tends to cause whitish or silvery patches on bark, perithecia usually absent but the small black pycnidia are usually abundant. Spores are 3-septate, (12-)14-19(-22) x 6-7.5 µm, the macroconidia brown, 3-septate, (13-)14-19(-21) x 6-7.5 µm. Microconidia unknown. Micrographs of macroconidia below.

Similar: Eopyrenula avellanae, less frequent with smaller macroconidia
