Illosporiopsis christiansenii Incertae sedis
Illosporiopsis christiansenii #

Lichenicolous fungus

Widespread, often in nitrogen-rich conditions on a number of lichen species including Physcia tenella and Xanthoria parietina.

Pink sporodichia form soft mounds of coiled conidia on host thallus, spiral appearance when viewed under microscope. Micro photo below.

Similar: Marchandiomyces corallinus. Found on dead and dying areas of Physcia and Parmelia species. The bright pink coralloid sclerotia are more solid than the soft sporodichia of Illosporiopsis christiansenii
