Slime hairs with 2-4(5) or more cylindrical cells on the under (ventral) side of the thallus at the apex tip (micrographs below).



Similar: Both Pellia epiphylla and P. neesiana have shorter slime hairs at the apex tip, 1-2 cells long and present on both ventral and dorsal faces.
