Wingspan: 15-19mm

Flight time: Two generations, March-September.
Very variable and later generation are usually smaller. There are two distinctive 'thumb print' marks near the apex of each wing.
Found in a wide range of rural and urban habitats.

Larvae feed on the flowers of a wide range of plants including Gorse, Holly, Ivy, heathers, Buddleia, roses, Ragwort and Sea Aster
