Nutrient-rich twigs and bark, can be frequent on Ash

Pale greenish or greyish-green thallus with flat to convex apothecia (0.2-0.6mm). Discs whitish, brown-grey or black (often piebald when wet) with pale margins. Spores often bent, 3(-5) septate, 13-24(28) x 4-5(6) Ám. Unbranched paraphyses. Microscope photographs below.

Similar: Often found with Lecania cyrtella and L. cyrtellina but they have shorter spores which are usually 1-septate.
Micarea peliocarpa is C+ red, the spores (1-)3(-5) septate
