Fence posts, acid-barked trees and on heather stems. Most frequent in upland areas

Apothecia variable in colour. Spores (1) 3 (5) septate, 14-24 x 3-5(-6) µm. Paraphyses branched. Microscope photographs below.

M. lignaria C-, 3-7 septate. M. micrococca. C-, spores 0-1 septate.
Lecania naegelii. Basic or nutrient rich bark, C-, unbranched paraphyses
