Didymocyrtis slaptoniensis (Polycoccum slaptoniense) # Lichenicolous. Photographs on Xanthoria parietina Only found on the thallus and apothecia of Xanthoria parietina. Affected areas of the host thallus and apothecia are often tinged reddish. Perithecia single or in small groups and initially immersed but then erupting through the cortex. Spores are pale brown, 1-septate, (11-)13-15 x 5.5-7 µm, slightly warted and arranged +/- singly (uniserate) in the asci. Microscope photographs of spores below. The conidia are 5-8(-9) x 2.5-3.5 µm, hyaline, simple with a guttule at each end and many are slightly bent. Photographs shown here |
