Lichenicolous. Photographs on Xanthoria parietina

Only found on the thallus and apothecia of Xanthoria parietina.

Affected areas of the host thallus and apothecia are often tinged reddish.
Anamorph: Conidia are 5-8(-9) x 2.5-3.5 µm, hyaline, simple with a guttule at each end and many are slightly bent. Micrographs showing the conidiophores and conidia below.
Teleomorph: Perithecia single or in small groups and initially immersed but then erupting through the cortex. Spores are pale brown, 1-septate, (11-)13-15 x 5.5-7 µm, slightly warted and arranged +/- singly (uniserate) in the asci. Photographs shown here
