Minutophoma chrysophthalmae Growth type lichenicolous Photograph on apothecium of Chrysothrix flavovirens Found on the apothecia of Chrysothrix chrysophthalma on Scots Pine in old growth woodlands and also on the apothecia of Chrysothrix flavovirens (which only tends to be fertile on large, standing, dead trees) The black pycnidia are very tiny (the wall not entire with the base) but when present in quantity can give the host apothecium a black-spotted appearance. The conidia are also very small, subcylindrical, 2-3.5 x 1.5 µm. Micrographs showing a pycnidium below. |
