Lecanora chlarotera sens str Growth type crustose Chemistry: K+ yellow, C-, P-. UV+ mauve-purple. Apothecia margins P- N.B. All specimens without examination of sections in water under polarised light (POL) should be recorded as Lecanora chlarotera sens lat On bark and worked timber. Probably widespread but distribution uncertain owing to previous maps including L. chlarotera sens lat. Whitish or pale grey thallus with +/- conspicuous white prothallus. Apothecia with persistent, well-developed margins, discs rarely pruinose, pale brown, mid brown, red-brown or dark brown. Medulla with massive crystals, epithecium with large granules not extending between paraphyses (dissolving in K). POL Micrograph below. Similar: L. hybocarpa.
